Start getting to know the educators who make up this year’s Summer Institute!

This Summer Institute was created as part of a National Science Foundation grant that supports a new Columbia University Science and Technology center called Learning the Earth with Artificial Intelligence and Physics (LEAP). LEAP’s primary research strategy is to improve near-term climate projections by merging physical modeling with machine learning across a continuum from expertise in climate science and climate modeling to cutting-edge machine learning algorithms.

Teachers College (TC) contributes to one of LEAP’s broader goals to provide actionable information for societies to adapt to climate change and protect populations who are most susceptible to its effects. The Summer Institute is one of TC’s actions to incorporate LEAP’s research advances into education and training workshops for educators and parents.
